Folk Dancing

When I was at the word and song festival there was a group of young folk dancers called the Kivajat Dancers. One of their dances pictured was a contest. The dancers danced around the crossed sticks until they touched them then they had to sit down. The last one standing was the winner. The music would increase in speed as they danced. The last two girls were sisters. They have other dances and I enjoyed them so much.

Hey! Our P.E. teacher taught us this dance the year I was in 4th grade. In 5th grade we did "sword" sances, but with plastic pipe instead of swords, so no clumsy dancers actuallly lost any limbs. Thanks for reviving those fun memories!

That looks like a fun game! Katie has been dance/exercising with me in the afternoons and this would be something to help make it funner for the both of us. She is really starting to look forward to our exercise time now. Which is great - she pushes me to make sure I do it.

(I would put Dr. John's name here in this comment but instead would rather find out what you call him? Do y'all have a pet name for eachother after all of these years together?)

I'm impressed at their talent. If it were me, I'd have kicked my own sticks, the sticks of my neighbors, and crashed into that coat rack in the background... And that would be before the music even started!

For your sake, I hope Dr. John is a better dancer than me!

I don't have very good hand-eye coordination, so I doubt I'd be much better at a dance like this.

Dr. John,
I have had a tough couple of days. I was slighted and felt very low. Then I remembered the wise words you left on my blog many weeks ago, reminding me about forgiveness. I then spent a few days doing nothing but reading scripture and pondering. I was summarily reminded that if Christ could forgive those who trespassed against Him, then certainly I, with only divine potential and minute harm, should be able to do the same.
Your words are wise, your visits always welcome. Thank you for reminding me of this key eternal principle.
